Who Cares About The Town Centre?

Hello Folks.

There has been a lot of fuss in the newspapers about the demise of the town centre, recently. This nonsence has gone far enough!

Some say that we should concentrate on supporting businesses in the town centre, instead of out of town shopping developments. This is rubbish, absolute rubbish.

As long as we councillors and council officers receive “favours” from the developers and the stores concerned, why would we do anything to help local businesses in the town centre? That would be mad. The people who live in this area must think we are stupid to give all that up.

If local businesses want our support, then they should do some “creative accounting” and provide “tribute”.

That’s all for now, time is tight. I have a very important “meeting” to go to, with the developers of the Gateway development. They are great people to work with – very “generous”.

Planning Committee

Just as I had planned, I have been “chosen” for the Council Planning Committee.

After a few days of “negotiations” the ruling group on the newly elected Council will consist of the Independents plus the survivors of the Labour group.

Plaid Cymru were not pleased. I know they have the largest amount of Councillors on the Council and that most people in the elections voted for a change, but “that’s politics”.

The name has been chosen for the new Rugby Stadium. It is “Parc y Llwgr”, an apt name considering the amount of “work” put in to “persuade” people that it was a good idea to build it. It will be a magnificent stadium, with the approach lined with bricks with the names of every member of the old Council Planning Committee, written on them.

Lottery Funding News

Diane, my wife, received a phone call today concerning the application for lottery funding to renovate Cwmfawr Community Hall.

The “powers that be” have accepted the appication and have assured my wife, who is Chairperson of the Community Hall Committee, that the funds will be available soon.

This is superb news. My brother in law will be pleased. He has “won” the contract to renovate the hall. Let’s hope he does a good job of it and has plenty of materials “left over”, so he can finish that patio he is doing for me.

Isn’t the National Lottery wonderful!

I’ve Been Elected!

God that was close! I nearly missed out on being elected for the first time, by just 4 votes.

All that “schmoozing” and telling lies to people’s faces, over the past few weeks, was nearly all for nothing. But, it’s early days. I’ll soon get the hang of it. I’ll ask my Labour predecessor how she managed it for so long.

My main priority in the next few weeks is to get on the planning commitee. That’s where the real money is. Plenty to go around for everybody and with all these new building developments in the area, plenty will mean plenty.

Anyway, that’s all for now folks.
